About QueryKings
A consultancy that does one thing: MySQL, done properly.
QueryKings is a US-based consultancy focused entirely on MySQL. Not "databases in general", not one practice area among twenty — one database, covered to full depth: query optimization, InnoDB internals, replication, high availability, and the migration paths between self-managed servers, RDS, and Aurora.
Why a specialist
MySQL runs an enormous share of the world's production systems, and most of it is looked after part-time — by application engineers between features, or by generalists to whom MySQL is one system of many. That works until it doesn't: the slow query that resists indexing intuition, the replica that falls hours behind, the 5.7 estate that is out of support and out of easy options. Those problems are cheap for a specialist and expensive for everyone else. We exist to be that specialist, by the hour, without the overhead of a big firm or the lock-in of a platform vendor.
What we believe about the craft
- The database is not magic. Every slow query, every lag spike, every failed failover has a mechanism, and the mechanism can be named, measured, and fixed.
- Boring is the goal. A well-run database is uneventful. We optimize for the absence of incidents, not for heroics during them.
- Neutrality matters. We sell engineering hours — no software, no hosting, no reseller margins. When we recommend RDS over self-managed, or against sharding you don't need yet, the recommendation has no side-channel.
